Care & Size Guidance

Care & Size Guidance

Ficus auriculata, or elephant ear fig, is a striking houseplant that thrives with proper care. It grows to more than 2 metres indoors, making it ideal for large spaces. If it grows too large, trimming the stems back will not damage the plant. The stems will re-sprout lower down and this will revive the plant and keep it bushy. This tropical fig prefers bright, indirect light but tolerates partial shade. Plant it in well-draining soil and keep it consistently moist, allowing the top layer to dry slightly between waterings.

Regular misting helps maintain humidity, and occasional feeding with a balanced fertiliser promotes healthy growth. Protect it from cold draughts and sudden temperature changes. With its lush, oversized leaves and bold presence, Ficus auriculata adds a tropical touch to indoor environments.
