Native to China and regions in Laos and Vietnam, it grows most notably in large numbers along the banks of the Mekong River. Its habitat is most frequently associated with riverside or cliff habitats where it grows as a rheophyte – an aquatic or semi aquatic plant that is adapted to living in fast moving water currents.
It has become a much desired indoor plant because of how, unlike other members of the Phoenix genus, it is incredibly well adapted to being kept indoors. It’s slow growing nature makes it perfectly suited for keeping indoors without outgrowing its space.

Care & Size Guidance
If slowly acclimatised to full sun, Phoenix roebelenii enjoys a spell outside during the frost free months.
Whilst in the wild it can grow to an impressive 7 metres tall, its maximum height indoors is around 3 metres tall. However, it’s very slow growing and unlikely to reach such a height inside your home.
A splendid tree with a generous 65 cm trunk. The Palm Centre staff were very friendly and helpful, likewise their chosen carriers. I appreciated the care taken to avoid despatching the palm during a cold snap. I recommend the Palm Centre plants and mail order service.

Beautiful plant. 500mm trunk.
Lived in thermostatically controlled conservatory. Never went below 5 degrees.
Lower branches died off over 2 years then whole plant went.
It never grew a new stem from the day it arrived.

Wow, what a fabulous palm tree. I ordered the £149 size i.e. the smallest, but it is amazing and fills a complete corner of my conservatory with the spread of the palms creating a really calm and peaceful atmosphere – just what I wanted. I also purchased a Dypsis and Beaucarnea – opting for big planting over lots of smaller plants and so glad I did. This is back to being my favourite place to sit and recoup from the stresses of daily life. Delivery was excellent; good communication to keep me informed.

Love this plant! Fills the living room space perfectly. Great service as I had my old address down and they resent the plant to my current address straight away. Would recommend this company for their professionalism and products!
