Fargesia robusta ‘Campbell’
Fountain Bamboo
From: £32.95
One of the more robust Fargesia bamboos, known as the Umbrella Bamboo, it features glossy dark green foliage and light green culms. New shoots appear rusty red when they emerge in early spring, slowly fading to a lighter hue, which gives the culms a particularly attractive appearance through spring and early summer.
As the name implies, Fargesia robusta ‘Campbell’ grows faster, more upright, and is more sun tolerant than most Fargesias. As it is clump forming, it is ideal as a screening or hedging plant.

Plant Biography
Native to Sichuan in China, Umbrella Bamboo is of great importance in its native range as it is a food source for the giant panda.
Fargesia robusta is a perrenial, and one of the earliest bamboos to shoot in spring.
The ‘Campbell’ cultivar was the first of its species to be introduced into the West and features slightly smaller leaves and a tighter clumping habit than the straight species.
Expert Tip
Care & Size Guidance
Bamboo have a very high water requirement. During drier and hotter periods an irrigation system can help keep the plants well watered, and applying a layer of mulch helps prevent the soil from drying out too fast.
10 fargesia robusta Campbell arrived in excellent condition and on time. 5 stars. Particularly useful to be able to buy juvenile plants, I can sit back and marvel at their youthful enthusiasm…

Very disappointed when the Robusta arrived. It was wrapped in cling film and parcel tape at the base which damaged the new shoots. Overall, the bamboo was in poor condition – very spindly and yellow/pale green leaves. I did write to complain but no reply.
Palm Centre Reply: Were so sorry to hear youre not happy with your bamboo. We cant find your email anywhere Im afraid, you can call us anytime so we can discuss further. The cling film is a standard packaging and the tape at the base is to secure the cling film to the pot. The Fargesia rufa Campbell loose leaves over winter and the ones remaining could be turning yellow as the bamboo is most of the time pot bound. Once repotted or planted in the ground it will establish really well fast and shoot new growth.

Arrived in good condition. Well wrapped. Plants ordered were advertised as about 2 foot tall but are easily 3 to 4 foot which is a bonus. Thanks!
