Plant Biography

One of the most impressive varieties, this fern has filigree-fine fronds that form a lacy rosette. It is ideal at the front of a shady bed or border or in a woodland setting among contrasting ferns and foliage plants.

The Pplystchum setiferum is native to the UK islands, however the variety’s name ‘Herrenhausen’ comes from the ‘Herrenhausen Gardens’ in Hanover, Germany.

Care & Size Guidance

Care & Size Guidance

A very easy to grow fern. Plant in moist, free draining soil in partial to full shade.

Either cut back the old foliage in early January to allow space for spring bulbs, or leave them in place until April when the new fronds will appear. Any dead or damaged fronds may be carefully removed in order to keep the fern looking its best all year round.

Apply fern fertiliser or a sea weed based fertiliser throughout the growing season to keep the plant at its best.
