Our star climber, the Star Jasmine is a twining evergreen which bears glossy green foliage, sometimes tinged purple in cold weather. It produces exquisitely perfumed white flowers which appear for long periods in summer.
Trachelospermum jasminoides (Arch) is a form of Star Jasmine with two plants, each in a separate pot, grown over an archway. Perfect for quickly decorating an entrance or large ornamental focal point in the garden.
All Trachelospermum are native to South and East Asia. The generic name was created from the Greek words for ‘neck seed’, in reference to the shape of the plants’ seeds. Jasminoides means ‘looks like jasmine,’ as despite its very similar flowers and fragrance this plant is not actually related to the true jasmine species.
It is sometimes called ‘Trader’s Compass’ from an interesting old belief in Uzbekistan that the plant directed traders of good character in the right direction.

Expert Tip
The heady floral display, beloved by pollinators, is most abundant in a sunny position. However this is also a really useful evergreen foliage plant to cloak shadier walls even if there will be fewer flowers.
Care & Size Guidance
This climber likes well drained soils, and can even grow well in a large trough or pot if watered well in the warmer months.
This form (Arch) comes provided with a trellis archway for Star Jasmine to clamber up. This is perfectly suited for creating an entrance to the garden, or to create an entrance to a divided section of the garden.
I can’t recommend the Palm Centre enough! My Jasmine arrived yesterday, incredibly well packaged (to the point where not one leaf had come off)! The plant is well established, really healthy and the perfect size! I will definitely be coming back for more!
