COR-TEN
Corten (or more correctly, COR-TEN) is an alloy steel which weathers to a beautiful rusted finish without compromising the structure of the planter.
Corten steel was developed in the 1930’s in the USA when the United States Steel Coorporation patented a steel alloy for use in railroad carriages.
When exposed to the elements, Corten steel forms a protective coating through a process called weathering. This is what results in the attractive russet finish which has made them so popular.
