Care & Size Guidance

Care & Size Guidance

Vinca major, or Greater Periwinkle, thrives in shady to semi-shady locations with well-drained soil. It requires minimal maintenance once established, needing only occasional watering during dry spells. This vigorous plant can reach heights of up to 50cm and spreads extensively, making it ideal for ground cover.

Prune regularly to control its growth and prevent it from encroaching on areas where it is not wanted. Fertilise in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser to encourage lush foliage and abundant blooms. Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal diseases and promote healthy growth.

Expert Tip

If using as a ground cover, space plants 30-40cm apart and keep well watered and mulched to encourage them to fill out quickly.
