Olea europaea – Topiary
European Olive
From: £30.95
The European Olive Tree is an unmistakable symbol of both the Mediterranean landscape and way of life, dating back several millennia. Olea europaea has been cultivated and grown for its fruit and oil by people as far back as the ancient Greeks and Romans, but it is nonetheless hardy enough to be suitable for British gardens.
Topiary Olea europaea is a medium sized tree with a thin trunk, iconic silver-grey green leathery leaves clipped into a loose ball, and sweetly scented flowers. These are a perfect choice for those looking for an olive in a more formal garden, or to decorate entrances.
All our olives are carefully selected to meet all plant health requirements.

Plant Biography
Named ‘the queen of all trees’ by the ancient Roman agricultural writer Lucius Columella, these trees massively influenced ancient Roman and Greek culture. They have long represented wealth, abundance, power and peace – a wreath of its foliage was even presented to victorious ancient Greek athletes as a trophy of their success.
Widely distributed across the Mediterranean, Africa and Asia, Olea europaea is of course most well known for its fruit – the olive. In the Mediterranean, where they have been grown for over 5,000 years, around 90% of the world’s olives are produced, proving to be one of the region’s most valuable crops.
Today, there are thought to be around 865 million olive trees in the world, some of which are claimed to be at least 2000 years old and yet still produce olives!
Expert Tip
Care & Size Guidance
This evergreen bush is hardy and, from its coastal heritage, can withstand strong winds and even minus temperatures. So, despite their Mediterranean roots, olives are perfectly suitable for British gardens.
Olea europaea is a very slow growing plant and is tolerant of pruning, so it’s unlikely to outgrow the space it’s in.
Strong healthy plants. Great customer service in terms of there being no difficulties and great communication. The courier service was excellent – plants arrived safely and healthily, they arrived before they were expected which suited us as they were a gift and the delivery driver was friendly. Would certainly consider using this company again.

The olive trees arrived yesterday on a one-day courier service, as promised. Despatch did take a little while, but the delay was advised prior to placing the order. The trees look beautiful and much nicer than I imagined they would be for the price. I haven’t planted them yet and have only had them since yesterday so I can’t comment on how they develop but from my experience so far I would recommend the Palm Centre and the olive trees.

I ordered 8 of the small trees and 2 half standard. They’re everything I hoped for, stunning olive trees of excellent quality. The larger ones are bigger than expected

I received my olive tree safely this week. Thank you. Very impressed with how it was packed. The tree is exactly as I had hoped. I immediately tried to order 2 more for Xmas presents but alas – sold out.
