Plant Biography
Feijoa sellowiana, sometimes listed as Acca sellowiana, is native to many South and Central American regions: southern Brazil, eastern Paraguay, Uraguay, northern Argentina, and Columbia.
They are grown commercially in their native range for their fruits, as well as New Zealand, Azerbajan, and Georgia. The fruit is usually sold local to the producers as it has a short shelf life and does not travel well, which might explain why it is rarely, if ever, found for sale in the UK.
The Pineapple Guava is drought tolerant and can thrive in many types of soil. It is ideal for use as a hedge or screen, and can be grown in containers. It is also a popular choice for bonsai.
