Plant Biography
This iconic palm has been grown as a houseplant since Victorian times, gracing ‘parlours’ throughout the land, hence its common name the ‘Parlour Palm’.
The Victorians used their parlours to receive and impress guests, decorating them with their most lavish and luxurious possessions. Certainly impressive, C. elegans’ lush, deep green foliage and dense organic form have remained chic all this time, making it a perfect choice for just about any space.

Care & Size Guidance
Unlike some palms suited for keeping indoors, Parlour Palms wont quickly take over the space they’re placed in due to their slow growing nature. What’s more, whilst they can grow up to a mighty 8 foot tall outdoors in their natural environment, their ultimate height grown indoors in the UK is a more manageable 4 foot.
Whilst they thrive best in bright indirect light, one of the appealing factors of a Chamaedorea elegans is how well it can still survive in shade and dry air, making it a brilliant gift for novice plant owners.
In milder locations C. elegans can potentially even be kept outdoors, surviving down to -6C or lower under evergreen canopy when given sufficient wrapping to protect the leaves.

Today I received 4 plants from the Palm
Centre. I was completely over the moon with the other 3 and will submit reviews separately for those. This plant however caused me to be slightly annoyed.
The plant itself is bright, bushy, beautiful, healthy, arrived perfectly and will look amazing in my house. The thing that bothers me is that the height isn’t as described (fully). I went for the bigger option in the larger pot that is meant to be taller in height too. I feel that the plant only just delivers on the height.
The plant is bushy and gorgeous to look at but has literally only one very tall/long strand leaf that must meet the height requirement. Although you cannot make a plant of many stems grow in unison, i feel it’s unfair to class the plant in the higher bracket just for one leaf. I wish I’d just gone for the smaller size option, I doubt there’s much difference.
Im actually in the process of buying more from the Palm Centre as the quality of their plants, delivery/handling and price points are Unbeatable.
Don’t be put off buying from the Palm Centre. I haven’t, regardless of my dissatisfaction.

All good. Plants arrived healthy, well packed and as described. Am very pleased with my purchase. Only note is that a small number of fronds had accidentally stuck to the packing tape at the top of box, otherwise I would have given this 5 x stars! Would definitely buy from here again though.
