Phyllostachys aureosulcata ‘Aureocaulis’
Golden Crookstem Bamboo
From: £81.95
Golden Crookstem Bamboo is often regarded as one of the most adaptable and impressive of all golden-caned bamboos. It features glossy light green leaves, with light green and golden streaked culms which emerge beautifully striped, and develop a magenta tint in the right lighting conditions.
The culms of Phyllostachys aureosucata ‘Aureoculis’ are generally very upright in growth, but the lower growth will sometimes appear with striking, strongly zig-zagged internodes.

Plant Biography
Native to East China, aureosulcata is an upright growing species of bamboo with a narrow stature that makes it perfect for use as a tall privacy screen in the garden.
The ‘Aureocaulis’ cultivar is the hardiest golden-caned bamboos. The culms of this cultivar take on a lemon yellow colour at sheath fall, the time when the new shoots reach their full height in late spring.
If positioned in full-sun the golden culms of aureosulcata will become lightly tinged with colour, the hue depending on the cultivar. For Aureocaulis this is a bright magenta tint.

Care & Size Guidance
Phyllostachys aureosulcata requires little to no maintenance, though if required the plant may be thinned out and spent canes can be cut back to the ground level.
This bamboo produces underground rhizomes which aid its spreading, meaning it requires the installation of root barrier to prevent it from becoming invasive.
Bought a bunch of these and they are fabulous and HUGE! The delivery driver was in awe.

Incredibly fast delivery and very good value.
The bamboo was packed well and seemed to be healthy but it must be said that many of the leaves were marked at the tips as if distressed or short of water ( see attached photo)
The roots in the pot were so well established that I could not get the plant out and had to carefully cut the pot away, Im not sure if this is a good thing or not.
Now planted the bamboo seems to be doing ok, the stems are tall but thin and have some difficulty in standing straight but I expect the plant to quickly establish and produce new more robust upright canes soon.
Update!
Less than two weeks from delivery and there are six new strong, thick and healthy looking shoots.
These are nearly twice as thick as the originals.
Looks like growth will be almost as fast as The palm Centres delivery.

Product arrived in excellent condition with very good packaging, the bamboo is progressing well with lots of new shoots, after watering often as instructed.
